KSM inc. is a small locally-owned fertilizer company with a patented, low-cost production method to manufacture Potassium Sulphate (SOP) and Potassium Magnesium Sulphate (SOPM) fertilizers. The company is developing a 45,000 tonne per year operation located in Tring-Jonction, Quebec – 80km south of Quebec City. The nutrients supplied by KSM’s fertilizers match the needs of many crops grown in eastern Canada and United States. There are more than 7,000,000 tonnes of SOP and SOPM applied to farm fields annually around the world. We’re proud to be the first local source to the region supplying nutrients to farmers to enhance food supply, quality, and economics.

Mr. Lemieux is a chemical engineer graduate from University of Sherbrooke and has accumulated more than 17 years of experience in industrial process development. He has worked in the energy sector for a number of years and then served as director of engineering for a research center specialized in biofuels. During that period, he also founded Innoltek, a privately owned company that has become one of the few major players in the biodiesel industry and bio-lubricants in Quebec. Since 2009, he was involved with Dundee Sustainable Technologies (DST) where he acted as the Executive Vice-President of the corporation. As such, he oversaw research and development initiatives including commercializing proprietary technologies for the mining sector. His experience includes process development and commercialization, financing, and supervision of multidisciplinary team of professionals. He participated closely in the development of DST’s technologies at laboratory, pilot plant and industrial level. He is also co-inventor of several patents and publications.
Dr. Lalancette holds a Ph.D. (Chemistry) from Université of Montréal (1960). He is a professor Emeritus of the Université de Sherbrooke and the author of more than 140 patents related to mineral chemistry and problem solving in environmental science. His contributions have been acknowledged by several awards, including the Manning Award in 1985 for the development of a safer form of asbestos. Dr. Lalancette, co-founder of the DST, was a director and Vice-President, Development of the Corporation until his retirement in February 2015. He is now Chairman Emeritus of DST. He is also the co-founder of KSM inc.
Jay Hussey is a highly experienced fertilizer industry executive, with an extensive background in potassium fertilizer marketing, supply contracting, and off-take & joint venture negotiations throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America. Jay started his fertilizer career in 2004 as Vice-President of China-based Migao Corporation in both Toronto and Beijing. During his 10 years with Migao, he helped it grow into China’s largest non-State owned SOP producer. Since then, he has successfully secured many binding, multi-year contracts for his network of global fertilizer companies.
